Ballet Teacher

 

Lauren Kennedy was born in Chester County Pennsylvania.  She received her early dance training at Longwood Performing Arts in Kennett Square, PA. After deciding to concentrate solely on her ballet technique, she began training at the First State Ballet Theatre in Wilmington, DE.As a student, Lauren competed at YAGP, becoming a NYC finalist. She accepted a full scholarship to the Boston Ballet School and soon after at the age of eighteen became a member of the Boston Ballet II.

 Moving on from Boston, Ms. Kennedy joined Festival Ballet Providence and spent many seasons dancing soloist and principal roles in ballets by George Balanchine, Antony Tudor, Viktor Plotnikov and Mihailo Djuric, as well as several of the major classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Nutcracker, 1001 Nights, and Giselle.

After competing in the Jackson and Varna International ballet competitions, Ms. Kennedy decided to transition her ballet career to Europe.

 Upon joining the Ballet du Capitole in Toulouse, France, she was offered leading roles in Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco, Fokine’s Chopiniana and Kylian’s Petit Mort.  In 2015, Lauren was promoted to the rank of soloist and was given opportunities to revisit old classics with French legendries, Roland Petit, Serge Lifar and the incomparable Rudolph Nureyev, while also working with contemporary choreographers, David Dawson, Jacopo Godani, Mauro Bigonzetti, and Stijn Celis.

After several years in France, Ms. Kennedy joined the Staatsballett Berlin in 2017, under the direction of Nacho Duato.  Lauren had the honor of dancing alongside many stars of the ballet world and working with world class teachers and noted choreographers. In 2019 she left the company, returning to the USA in pursuit of new goals and challenges.

Lauren is now a freelance guest artist, ballet teacher and a NASM certified personal trainer.
