Ocean State Ballet’s mixed program celebrated the school’s artistic depth and versatility through three distinctive works that bridged classical tradition and contemporary innovation.
The Firebird, choreographed by Vilia Putrius, brought to life the timeless tale of magic, courage, and transformation. With beautiful sets by Mindaugas Bauzys and stunning projections by Izabele Bauzyte, the ballet captured the wonder and intensity of the mythical Firebird and her enchanted world.
slegnA, an original work by Vilia Putrius,—its title meaning “angels” spelled backward—hinted at a theme of inversion and perspective. Through fluid, athletic movement and striking imagery, the piece invited audiences to reimagine the boundaries between darkness and light, chaos and grace.
Hues of Poise, choreographed by Viktor Plotnikov, offered a contemporary reflection on harmony and strength. Its nuanced movement vocabulary and sculptural formations revealed the dancers’ technical precision and emotional depth, creating a beautiful and thought-provoking conclusion to the evening.
